Overall Impression

The Roomba 980 is a multi-room automated floor cleaner that offers wi-fi connectivity, powerful cleaning of any surface and a bunch of next generation technologies that make it efficient, flexible and reliable.

However, all of this tech comes with a price.

For those that can afford it, though, this is the best robotic vacuum we have reviewed.

Cleaning Ability

The Roomba 980 uses the AeroForce Cleaning system that the iRobot brand is known for.

This latest edition of the Roomba adds a carpet boost feature that increases the power of the vacuum when it is being used on carpet.

The vacuum is an excellent choice for all floor types & tackles dust bunnies and shag carpet, with ease.

Like its predecessor, the Roomba 880, the 980 is a multi-room cleaner.

The Roomba 980 uses the iAdapt 2.0 responsive navigation system.

It will navigate an entire floor of your home, crossing floors of any type and cleaning around clutter and furniture as it moves from room to room.

The robot is also designed to avoid falling down stairs.

In addition, there are 2 virtual walls that come with the 980 that give you better control over the areas that you want your robot to clean vs. not

Automation & Scheduling

Premium Roomba Model

The Roomba 980 offers a convenient smartphone app. This app is compatible with both Android and iOS systems.

You can use the app to schedule cleanings at any time – from anywhere you may be.

What it Misses

Due to its heft, the Roomba 980 can miss smaller, tighter spaces.

The Roomba 980 is similar to most other iRobots, when it comes to maintenance.

You will need to clean the brushes regularly and make sure to empty out the dustbin after every cleaning.

The brushes are made of rubber, so they are very easy to clean.
