Navigation of Roomba 614

The Roomba 614 can thoroughly clean one room with the simple push of a button.

But other than that, this is a really simple device that has been effectively replaced by the Roomba 650/655, which we recommend at this price.

Our Impression: Roomba 614 Robot Vacuum
4.5

Summary

A simple single-room cleaner that lacks scheduling and auto-recharge features. We prefer the Roomba 650/655 at this price.

Great for:

● Carpet
● Hardwood floors
● Pet hair
● Allergies
● Tile and vinyl floors

Avoid if:

You want to schedule cleaning or need a hands-off solution.

Overall Impression

The Roomba 614 is definitely an entry-level, single-room robotic vacuum.

If you want a simple robotic vacuum that will get your floor clean and do not care about advanced scheduling, multi-room cleaning or remote control features, then the 614 is a good choice.

That said, we prefer its later sibling, the Roomba 650/655, over the 614.

Cleaning Ability

As with all Roomba vacuums, the 614 uses iRobot’s excellent 3 stage cleaning system that excels at picking up pet hair, dust, and larger debris like cereal.

This system allow the device to clean debris from all of the corners of the home as well as the wall edges through the use of a side brush.

The Roomba 614 will automatically pass thresholds up to 2 cm in height with very few problems.

Navigation

iRobot is Great For Vacuuming Hardfloors

The 614’s navigation system uses a full suite of sensors that help the robot navigate around your room, avoiding obstacles like stairs.

The robot will quickly adapt to your home’s layout and with time will be able to move from room to room more quickly.

Automation & Scheduling

There are no scheduling options for the Roomba 614.

What It Misses

There are many features missing from the Roomba 614.

Aside from not offering a scheduling feature, the robot does not have a full bin indicator. This can be inconvenient as you do not know when the bin is full.

Additionally, it does not have a HEPA filter.

Maintenance

The Roomba 614, like almost every robotic vacuum offered by iRobot offers easy maintenance.

You will need to clean the dust bin after every cleaning.

In addition, you will need to remove the brushes from the device on a regular basis and make sure that they are clean and free of debris. The cleaning process is quite simple.
