Dolphin Sigma is one of the most powerful and advanced pool robots from Maytronics.

With a triple motor system, gyroscopic navigation and dual everything – active brushes, cartridges, and filters –the Dolphin Sigma can tackle the dirtiest of pools.

It’s one of the few robotic pool cleaners to come with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to steer the robot using your smartphone. That’s handy for spot cleaning.

The only major downside is the price. The price tag reflects its capability in the water.

Cleaning Ability

For the money you are paying, the Dolphin Sigma better be good at its job.

Thankfully, it is.

The robot has a triple motor system, giving it plenty of power to scrub and vacuum up debris. It easily navigates the floor and scrubs the wall to the waterline.

Dual scrubbing brushes work on algae and calcified dirt on the walls and floor while the 75 gallons-a-minute suction system vacuums the dirt into the large top-load dual cartridges.

The Dolphin Sigma is equipped with the SmartNav™ 3.0 navigation system.

It scans the pool to calculate the optimal path while also ensuring it covers every inch of the pool.

The navigation system also helps it avoid obstacles.

The SmartNav system is complemented by an onboard gyroscope that allows the robot to determine its own position. This is especially helpful when it is going up the pool wall.

The only limitation of the Sigma is navigating the pool steps. Like most other robotic pool cleaners, it can only manage at most of the bottom two steps.

But it covers all the other areas, including the floor, cove, wall, and waterline.

Features we Like

1. Energy Efficient

Though powerful, the triple motor system is highly energy efficient. The 24V triple DC motors use 87% less power than cleaners powered by AC motors.

2. Independent Rubber Tracks

The rubber tracks provide strong traction, allowing the robot to navigate on the floor and up the walls with ease.

They are much more effective at mobility than wheels.

The robot can operate each track independently, allowing it to turn on a dime. The added agility is handy when it is navigating vertical services and corners.

3. Dual Filtration

To make sure it gets as much debris as possible, the Dolphin Sigma comes with two variable micron filters.

There is a standard filter for large bits like leaves and dead bugs and an ultra-fine filter for algae, sand, and dust.

As I mentioned, all the debris is dumped into two oversized filter baskets.

The baskets are conveniently accessible from the top, making it easy to empty the collected debris.

4. Programmable Weekly Timer and Bluetooth Connectivity

You can set the robot to clean automatically every day, every two days or every three days depending on how often you use your pool and how quickly it gets dirty.

You can configure the weekly schedule from the robot’s control panel or from the MyDolphin app. You’ll need to link your phone to the robot via Bluetooth to use the app.

You can also use the app as a remote control, steering the robot to clean specific spots.

5. Swivel Cable

A 360-degree swivel on the power cable allows the Dolphin Sigma to clean without the cord getting in the way.

Pros

  • Excellent cleaning performance thanks to powerful suction and active scrubbing brushes.
  • Bluetooth connectivity.
  • Programmable weekly auto-cleaning.
  • Powerful but energy efficient motors.

Cons

  • Expensive.
  • Heavy and doesn’t come with a caddy.
  • Has trouble cleaning steps – but this is a problem with many robotic pool cleaners.
